In English, 1EB have been reading the story of The Great Kapok Tree. We have been writing descriptions, letters and even our own version of the story.

Our science topic is ‘plants.’ 1EB have been busy closely observing different plants and growing our own.
As part our of Buddhism topic we made lotus flowers using clay. Here are some of our beautiful creations.
We have kicked off this term with the traditional story of Hansel and Gretel. 1EB have enjoyed getting it in to role and acting it out.
This term we enjoyed a trip to the Museum of Childhood to kick off our ‘Toys’ topic. We compared toys from the past with the toys that we like to play with today. We also attended a puppet workshop and explored some different puppets.
Following our trip we made our own moving puppets using different materials.
We have been getting musical this term by taking part in Gamelan workshop where we played instruments from Bali and Indonesia.
Here we are taking part in an obstacle course for sports relief.
We were visited by the Science Wizards and looked at different chemical reactions.
For science week we investigated paper aeroplanes to see which would fly the furthest.
For our topic ‘Looking After Our Word’ and we have been busy sorting out materials for recycling to make a collage.

Our science topic is ‘Animals’ and we have started by looking at humans. We drew around each other and labelled our different body parts. We have been learning about the senses and the body parts we need for need for each sense. We went on a listening walk and investigated if sound could travel through a piece of string.
Everyone has settled in well to Year One and we are already enjoying a variety of activities. On Mondays and Wednesdays we will be doing PE, please make sure your full kit is in school on these days.
Every Thursday afternoon we will be getting musical and learning the Ukulele!
This is our new friend, Mr Big, we have been learning about his story by Ed Vere.
1EB have been very busy in science this term. We have been investigation the different seasons.
In English we have read a variety of books including Beegu, Yeti and the Bird and the magic bed.
This term we have been lucky enough to go on two trips.
We visited the Dulwich Picture Gallery and listened to stories about two pictures.
We went to the Unicorn Theatre to watch the ‘The Snow Child.’ We enjoyed the dancing at the end. On the train we looked out the window at our local area.
We took part in a dram workshop and worked as a team to make shapes with our bodies.
We have been getting creative during the run up to Christmas by making lots of cards and decorations. Thank you to everyone who came to watch our Christmas song performance. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!
