Welcome to 2ER.
What an exciting first half term we have had!
In Maths, we have been partitioning numbers into tens and ones. We have used many different models and used lots of resources to help us in our learning. Our favourite lesson was outside on the playground where we used chalk, dines, numicon and counters to represent different numbers.
We began our half term by looking at the book “Here We Are” by Oliver Jeffers. We learned about different endangered animals, how to take care of our planet and who we can ask for help. We created some beautiful leaflets called “Notes for Living on Planet Earth” as well as some lovely artwork!
In Topic we have been learning all about pirates and following mysterious clues that led us on a pirate journey around the world. We explored the worlds seven continents and five oceans and finally found the treasure on the island of St. Lucia! We had an amazing pirate treasure hunt in the Nature Garden too!
This term we have been looking at algorithms. We designed our own pirate treasure maps and decided where we wanted to bury the treasure. We then created an algorithm for our partner to follow to find the gold!
In Science we have been studying materials. We have had so much fun with our hands on learning! We have cleaned up spills of water whilst looking at absorbent and non-absorbent materials, created and tested new PE kits made from various materials, experimented with torches whilst looking at transparency and made our very own slime in the Nature Garden!
We have done so much Art work this half term. We began by creating some beautiful self portraits and experimenting with marbling. We have also done some art work linked to the inspirational woman Katherine Johnson.
