4LB

Welcome to year 4!

Autumn 1

We began our half term by looking at our new topic, ‘London at War’. We used Now Press Play to explore WW2 through drama. Here we are acting out an evacuation.

We also began our new English text ‘The Lion and the Unicorn’. We have written diary entries and letters in role as Lenny – an evacuee child living in WW2.

Tim has been very passionate about the subject of WW2 and even brought in a poster of a Spitfire plane. Thanks Tim!

Mable (year 5) brought in a book for us about WW2. Her granddad wrote and illustrated the book. How incredible! Thanks Mable!

Here we are exploring the nature garden and creating habitats for woodlice!

Autumn 2

We are reading ‘Tar Beach’ by Faith Ringgold in English!

The book is set in New York in 1939. Tar Beach is the roof of Cassie’s Harlem apartment building. Cassie’s dream is to be free to go wherever she wants, and one day it comes true when the stars help her to fly across the city.

Here we are in a ‘conscious alley’ trying to persuade BeBe (Cassie’s younger brother) to come flying with us!

Year 4 were invited to Tate Britain to view the Steve McQueen exhibit they were involved with back in year 3. We had a fantastic time! Thank you to all of the parents that came with us!

Look at the amazing Tudor house Maya created for her topic homework! Jacob decided to create his own homework task about all things pigs! Wow!

Arnold the artist drew some incredible apes! They are doing what humans would do!

Spring 1

We began our half term by reading ‘The Iron Man’ by Ted Hughes. Many of the children chose to construct Iron Men/Women  for their topic homework. We now have an Iron Family!

Missy made some fantastic doll’s clothes out of old clothing that she no longer uses.

Navjot also taught us about beeswax wrap, which is a great alternative to cling film. Very environmentally friendly! Thanks Navjot!

This half term we have been learning about ‘The Environment’. We created salt dough maps of North America to help us compare geographical features.

Spring 2

We celebrated World Book Day on Thursday 5th March. Here we are in our amazing costumes!

Here we are at our Zoo Lab workshop! We got to hold a snake, rat and stick insect! Wow!
