Welcome to 5RE!

Spring Term 1

Welcome back to a brand new term in 5RE! We are all very excited about beginning our new topic, The London Eye mystery. Later this term we will be lucky enough to take a ride on the London Eye. So far this term we have written fact booklets about London, using i pads and information books we found out many interesting facts about our capital city. Did you know Angel Tube Station, has Western Europe’s longest escalator with 318 steps?

[line] In science this term we are exploring different forces in our world. So far we have carried out experiments on air resistance, friction, water resistance and gravity. We tested these forces on a range of objects and decided on the forces acting upon them. We had great fun and learnt that gravity is a force which acts on every object on earth however, in space there is no gravity and that is why astronauts float around.

Autumn Term 1

The children and staff in 5RE have been busy this week settling into their new building and getting used to new surroundings. The children have loved playing with all the brand new equipment in the playground including bowling, the football cage and their favourite… chalk!

Romans

This half term our topic is the Romans, you will have received your exciting half termly homework! We have already began writing exciting Roman poetry and are looking forward to lots of Roman themed trips and exciting writing this term.

Victorians

This half term we will be studying the Victorians. To begin our exciting topic we visited the Museum of London and discovered lots of wonderful Victorian artifacts! We traveled down a Victorian street, discovered how big a penny farthing was, sat in a Victorian barbers and discovered how unhygienic Victorians really were!

We are looking forward to learning many more exciting facts and visiting exciting Victorian places over the next few weeks. Enjoy looking at some of the exciting things we did whilst on our trip.
