5RS Christmas Carol 2019

Welcome to 5RS

We began the term by collaborating to create our own versions of the Artist David Hockney’s ‘East Yorkshire Series’ before making our own individual versions, which you will be able to see at the Art Exhibition on the 9th of October.

Our first trip of the year to the Temple of Mythras went well, the children were all very well behaved and enjoyed seeing real Roman remains and looking at some of the 14,000 artefacts collected from the site.

5RS class assembly was fantastic this morning – thank you all for help with learning lines, they were brilliant !

Wonderful collaborative production of Charles Dicken’s A Christmas Carol- performed by the amazing Liz, a fantastic way to enthuse the children, get into the festive ‘spirit’  and support our English work for the next 3 weeks as we head towards the winter break.

A really enjoyable trip to Southwark Cathedral Education centre for a Victorian School Workshop, All of the children were polite and praised by David who led the session for their behaviour and listening. A big thank you to Ruby’s Mum and Janet’s Dad, who came with us.

The Class Party today was a great success- the talent show was brilliant- card tricks, beautiful singing, dancing, violin, drumming and drama. Thank you so much for all your contributions.

The children have all worked really hard this term. Wishing you all a happy winter break and a positive 2020!

London Eye Trip 2020

Despite getting on a little later than scheduled -once in the air the views were the best ever and we could see for miles- the children were great fun and brilliantly behaved. A big thank you to Kate’s mum and Lyla’s mum, who came with us.

London Cityscapes, in the style of British Pop Artist Patrick Caufield- Simple outlines filled with bold blocks of colour  – here are a selection – to see more come and see the display in 5RS

Thank you so much for your generosity on Friday at the cake sale – we raised an amazing £266 for the charity Smile Train-please have a look at the amazing work they do internationally.

Have a relaxing half term.

A brilliant array of characters – some old favourites and new editions – for world book day today- well done for a great effort everyone

Dear ALL – I sincerely hope that you and your families are well and that you are managing to keep your spirits up despite this being a difficult and stressful time. We need to be especially kind to each other at the moment and think about those around us – is there anything you can do to help the grownups? Can you call someone, who may be feeling a bit lonely? Please remember – if you can, to do some exercise every day – Jo Wicks is a brilliant way to start the day at 9a.m  or you can do the class later on in the day – how about adding some of ‘our’ moves – For example -David O in the bathroom  or Arjuna the Archer and Boudiccea/ Thor ?? ( add your own favourite warrior ) Sword Swing and for the end some deep breathing with the ‘waterfall’ or ‘waves’ on the beach cycle. After Easter we hope to send out more structured lessons for you to follow daily and will  add suggestions for things to do make and play. Hope the photo makes you laugh- I look forward to hearing what you have been doing- all the best Ms Steel.
