Spring Term 1
This term our topic is Japan.
In literacy we have been using Origami Yoda by Tom Angleburger. We followed the instructions to make our own Origami Yodas.
In science we have been creating electrical circuits
In ICT we have been making adverts marketing Origami Yoda as a tool for life.
In PE we used a K-pop video to learn a dance.
At the V&A museum we learnt how a kimono is constructed.
Our display uses Origami,an ancient Japanese craft.
All of year 6 attended Junior Citizenship training at the Old Kent Road Fire Station.
Welcome to Autumn 2
This half term our topic is ,Marvellous Mayans
We looked at ancient Mayan murals , then created our own modern interpretations.
In science we have been investigating evolution and adaptation. We visited the Natural History Museum .
Then we investigated how animals use camouflage as an adaptation for survival, by hunting for a variety of coloured woollen worms in the nature garden.
In topic we made mosaics Mayan style and created God’s Eyes.
I has been a very ‘singy’ half term ! We performed at ‘Splash’, then sang at the Carol concert.
For enterprise week year 6 printed tote bags.
At our Christmas party we played lots of fun games.

We began the year with a portrait project. Using craft knives we removed the dark areas , then printed to create a rather different version of ourselves.
In a virtual reality workshop we explored aspects of bullying.
Our science this term is focused on light. We began investigating how it travels.
Next we explored how to change the size and direction of a shadow, including planning where sun umbrellas needed to go!
After multiplying images using mirrors, we began to make our own kaleidoscopes.
In RE we found some facts about Holy Books and displayed them in the form of a mobile – which involved a lot of teamwork and was far trickier than it looked at first.
During our Greeks topic we have made several items.
We had mixed reactions to traditional Greek food!
