We began by visiting the River Thames to investigate the history and structure of the river.
We studied Monet’s paintings and looked carefully at how to build up a picture using different layers of paint.
As part of ‘Healthy Week’ we took part in workshops about being healthy as well as a fun session on physical fitness.
Our topic for Spring Term 1 was Japan.
Pastel pictures of Hokusai
We created these fantastic pictures after learning all about Hokusai’s work.
We were very excited to make and then try sushi!
Lighting up the Tokyo Sky Tree
In science we used our topic about electricity to light up the Tokyo Sky Tree!
Build a Bike Course
A group of children in year 6 had the chance to take part in a bike building course run by Southwark.
Pen and ink drawings
We studied Ninjas and Samurais and created these pen and ink drawings.
Autumn Term 2
Cricket at The Oval
A team of children form year 6 took part in the Maurice Fulcher competition at The Oval. The children played extremely well, winning 2 of their matches, losing 1 and narrowly missing out on progressing to the finals round.
We have been studying the Maya Civilisation. These are some pieces of art which we have created.
These are paintings based on Mayan calendars.
These are wall murals drawn in the Mayan style. They are very colourful and depict interesting scenes including fantasy animals.
Autumn Term 1
Trip to the British Museum
We visited the British Museum as part of our Ancient Greece topic. The children had an informative visit, touring the galleries and taking part in a temple building project.
We created these portraits after looking at some of Picasso’s work. We’ve used oil pastels to create the vibrant colours.
Autumn 1st Half Term Topic – Ancient Greece
Our topic this term is Ancient Greece. We have already begun working hard and have learnt about Greek warriors and City-States. We will be visiting the British museum on Thursday September 25th to learn more about this fascinating topic!
