KS2 Dance Festival at The Scoop – Friday 2nd May
Children from year 5 and 6 who have been a part of the Friday lunchtime Street Dance Club took part in the Key Stage 2 World Cup Dance Festival at the Scoop. All children danced fantastically and had a great day out.
KS2 Gymnastics Competitions 23rd, 30th April
Children from year 4,5 and 6 competed in gymnastics competitions at Brunswick Park Primary School on Wednesday the 23rd and Wednesday the 30th of April. All children completed the gymnastic exercises to a high standard, with the year 4 team managing to come first in their competition and Billy Lowe being named the best boy. Well done to Alieu, Saidu, Angel, Jahmelia, Ceely, Maria, Hannah, Ellie, Phin, Billy and Sacha.
Year 5/6 B Team Football Tournament at Alleyns – Friday 28th March
The boys took part in a B Team football tournament hosted by Alleyns on Friday 28th March. They played some tough matches managing 2 wins, a draw and a loss during an entertaining afternoon of football. Well done to the children who took part – Kimoni, Al-Malik, Mahamad, Nathaniel, Jordan, Ryan, Dylan, Ludo, Zack and Gabriel.

Year 4 Benchball Festival – Thursday 27th March
Children from year 4 took part in a benchball festival at Harris Academy on the 27th of March. The children played extremely well with the A team making it all the way to the semi final. Well done to all the children who were involved and congratulations to Rowland who was named as the festival’s best player by the referees!

3 vs 3 Basketball Tournament Tuesday 11th March
On Tuesday the 11th of March, Year 6 children took part in a 3 vs 3 basketball tournament at City of London Academy. The team made it all the way to the semi finals where they lost to the eventual winners Bellenden. Well done to the children who took part – Jamal, Josh, Ramon, Angel and Dorothy.

Quadkids Athletics – Wednesday 5th March
On the 5th of March, the Year 6 Quadkids Athletics Team took part in this London Youth Games event at Burgess Park. The children had to each complete a 60m and 600m run, a throw and a jump. The team were given a score and the school with the highest score was judged the winner. The children did extremely well to just miss out on first place with a 675 point total for the day. Well done to Dorothy, Ayomide, Angel, Jahmelia, Kerisha, Ramon, Josh, Rahimo, Mohamad and Nathaniel.
Football tournaments at Alleyns 25th Feb – 4th March
Year 4,5 and 6 teams took part in the Alleyn’s football tournaments 25th Feb – 4th March. All teams played really well and had a lot of fun playing competitive football. The Year 6 Girl’s football team did especially well, making it all the way to the grand final where they beat Alleyns and the Year 6 Boys showed some great teamwork also, making it to the quarter finals where they lost on penalties to Dolphin school. Congratulations to the girls team and well done to all children who took part.
Year 6 Boys Football League
After 4 months of league games the Boy’s Football League was completed on the 27th of February. After a brilliant performance in a quarter final victory on penalties over St Pauls, the boys narrowly lost to Iveydale 5 – 3 after a great fight back in the semi final. After a big afternoon of football the 3rd place playoff ended with a 1 – 0 defeat to St Josephs. Well done to Ramon, Josh, Anis, Rahimo, Ludo, Malachi, Mohamad and Nathaniel who all worked extremely hard this season.
Year 6 Tag Rugby 27th February
On the 27th of February the Year 6 Tag Rugby team took part in the LSSPN Tag Rugby Festival. This tournament was played out with 27 teams from 19 different schools. After scoring 25 tries in their 4 group matches, the team made it all the way to the semi final where they narrowly lost to an extra time try. They managed to bounce back and win the playoff for third with a great performance and some excellent rugby. Well done to Rahimo, Ramon, Dorothy, Ayomide, Siham, Kerisha, Josh, Mohamad, Nathaniel and Angel.
Congratulations to Dorothy who was named the tournament’s best performing girl!
Trophy presentation at Millwall
On Saturday the 15th February the Year 6 Football team were invited to watch Millwall’s home game against Bolton and were presented with their trophy for winning the Shield at the recent Kid’s Cup. Some members of the Girl’s Football team joined them along with their parents for an exciting afternoon of football which was enjoyed by all.

After 4 months of league games the Girl’s Football League was completed on the 13th of February. The girls played a total of 8 matches, scoring 29 goals and only conceding 3 for a record of 7 wins and 1 loss. This fantastic record enabled the girls to finish second in the league table overall, 2 points behind the winners St Josephs Borough. Congratulations to the team – Ayomide, Gemma, Jahmelia, Kaechan, Hannah, Jhemoi, Kerisha and Siham. Well done also to Hannah who was named by the referees as the league’s best player.
Year 6 Netball 13th February
On the 13th of February the year 6 netball team took part in the LSSPN Netball festival. The children played extremely well making all the way to the final which they ended up narrowly losing 3 -2 to Bellenden. Well done to Siham, Dorothy, Ayomide, Ramon, Josh and Angel. Congratulations to Josh who was named the tournaments best performing boy.
Year 6 Quick Sticks Hockey 4th February –
On Tuesday 4th of February, Year 6 entered a team in the LSSPN Quick Sticks Hockey tournament at GMH. The team played extremely well making it all the way to the semi finals where they were beaten by Harris Primary School. They bounced back to win the play off for 3rd, 4 – 2, to round off an impressive day of hockey. Well done to Hannah, Rahimo, Mohamad, Ramon, Dorothy and Angel.

Year 4 Indoor Athletics, 30th January –
Year 4 took part in the LSSP Indoor Athletics tournament at Harris Girl’s School on Thursday 30th January. The children competed in track and field events and learnt a lot about each event. Well done to all the children involved!
Year 6 Boys Football team at the Football League Kid’s Cup 28th January –
On Tuesday the 28th of January, the Year 6 Boy’s Football Team took part in the Football League Kid’s Cup Tournament organised by Millwall. After some hard fought group games, the boys narrowly missed out on going through to the Round of 16 and instead had the chance to take part in the Shield competition with 12 other teams who didn’t make the Round of 16. They took their chance by playing some great football on the way to winning the Shield competition in a tense penalty shootout against Dalmain. Congratulations to all of the boys who worked extremely hard and well done to Mohamad who was the Bessemer player of the day with some consistent, tenacious and disciplined performances.

Year 5/6 Indoor Athletics 23rd January
On Thursday 23rd January the Year 5 and 6 Indoor Athletics Team took part in the LSSP Indoor Athletics competition at Charter School. Competing against 7 other schools, the team managed to win both the girls and boys competitions to become the overall champions. Well done to all the children involved, it was an outstanding effort from all members of the team. Well done also to Jahmelia who was chosen by the LSSP coaches as being the best performing girl on the day. Congratulations to Kaechan, Jahmelia, Ramon, Ayomide, Angel, Siham, Romeo, Al-Malik, Dorothy, Kerisha, Isatu, Rahimo, Nathaniel, Mohamad, Josh and Saidu.
Finals day, Maurice Fulcher Cup, cricket competition 17th January
The Year 6 cricket team took part in the finals day of this tournament which originally began with 54 schools from across South London taking part in heat competitions in November. After winning their heat day, the children continued their great play at the finals with 3 wins on the way to a semi final matching with the eventual champions Belleville School. In a close fought semi final, Bessemer restricted Bellville to a low score, but after a great bowling performance from the opposition team, ended up narrowly losing by 9 runs, a fantastic effort from all involved! Well done to Mohamad, Rahimo, Jahmelia, Hannah, Ramon, Josh, Mariane and Marian.

Year 6 Cricket
The year 6 Cricket Team competed in the Maurice Fulcher Cup on Thursday 14th November. They played extremely well, managing to win their Group and will now return to the Oval in January to compete in the a London Finals Day against other group winners.
Year 3 Football
Year 3 entered an A and B team in the LSSP Year 3 Football Festival on 14th November 2013. Both teams played really well with the A team ending up as the winners of the tournament.

Year 5 and 6 Cross Country Running
On a very wet day out at Dulwich Park, the year 5 and 6 Cross Country Running Teams competed in the LSSP Cross country Running Festival. All children ran extremely tough races. In the year 6 events Siham finished highest in 4th with Jahmelia (5th), Kerisha (7th), Angel (8th) and Ayomide (10th) all finishing in the top ten for the girls. For the boys Rahimo finished highest in 4th, with Josh (6th) and Ramon (9th) finishing in the top ten. In the year 5 races, Isatu finished 7th in the girl’s race with Romeo finishing 12th in the boy’s race.
Year 6 Football Team September 2013
The boys recently competed in the LSSP KS2 Football Festival at Elephant and Castle. After some hard fought games, they narrowly missed out on progressing to the elimination rounds of the competition. All boys played extremely well and learnt a lot from this experience.
