Class 3SS

Welcome to 3SS!

Spring Term

This term we have been learning about lots of new things! In Science we have been learning about light and shadows, creating our very own puppet show!

In R.E we have been learning about Hinduism and created some repeated prints by printing.

We had a fantastic trip to Surrey Docks Farm and got to pet the goats!  We have also been learning all about Spain. We looked at where Spain is in the world and even created our own globe to show lines of longitude and latitude. Red Nose Day 2014 What an exciting obstacle course we had to get around.

Autumn Term

Welcome to the Stone Age!

What an exciting half term we have had!  We have been learning all about the Stone Age to the Iron Age. In Science we have been looking at lots of different type of rocks and soils. We have even made our own fossils! We made bread in class and were lucky enough to get to bake our dough in the cob oven over in the nature garden. What a fantastic experience!

We have been looking at ‘Ug the boy genius of the Stone Age’ in Literacy and to really get into character we create some  cave painting and even made our own bones! For Enterprise Week we decided to create fabric wreaths.  We did such a fantastic job that the majority were sold! We can’t wait to find out who the winning class was. Fingers crossed!

We have already been learning lots.  In Science we are looking at Forces and Magnets this half term.  Some of us were using Newton metres to see how much force was needed to break thread of different thickness. In Literacy we have been learning all about the Ancient Egyptian gods and what they looked like.  The laptops proved a big hit for researching facts about our favourite Ancient Egyptian god! We are very lucky to have recorder lessons this year.  These will be on a Wednesday morning and will start on 24th September. We will also have swimming lessons for one term this year but for the time being our PE is outdoor on a Monday and indoor on a Thursday. So don’t forget your kit!

See you soon!
