Here at Bessemer Grange we teach in a lively creative way. Drama is used as a tool in many English lessons, we act out stories and dress as characters. Each week children perform to each other during class assemblies.

In December children in reception and year 2 create winter themed performances. Videos of these perdformances can be found on each year groups class page. During the Spring term children in year 4 perform a chosen play to the parents and whole school. They create the set, learn the lines and sometimes make their own costumes. Year 6 children also perform to the parents in their anual leavers concert.

Every child in our school visits the theatre at least once a year. The borough of Southwark is one of the most creative boroughs in London and we are lucky to be surrounded by so many theatres. Children in our school watch numerous performances at the following theatres;

Unicorn Theatre –  www.unicorntheatre.com
Southwark Playhouse – southwarkplayhouse.co.uk
Theatre Peckham – www.theatrepeckham.co.uk
The Globe – www.shakespearesglobe.com

As well as watching performances at theatres in London the children in our school often receive workshops in class. We work closely with a company called now press play. They use wireless headphones in a very creative way helping children to experience life in other times. nowpressplay.co.uk
