Ladybird 2020

Welcome to Ladybird’s class web page.

We will be adding pictures and updates on our learning regularly throughout the year.

The children have settled in really well and we are looking forward to a productive year in nursery.

We have been exploring both the inside and outside learning environments confidently and the children have really enjoyed a range of stimulating activities.

Here are some highlights from the first full week at Nursery.

This week we have been reading the book Owl Babies. The children have been really engaged with the book and have paticualy enjoyed the despair in which Bill cries out for his mummy!!

We went to the nature garden and collected leaves, sticks and feathers to make mini nests for our puppet owls. Here are some pictures from the past week and all things Owl Babies.

We have been taking advantage of the current mild weather and really enjoying our trips to the nature garden. There is lots to do and see and the children have loved going on minibeast hunts.

Here are some pictures from our bear hunt in the nature garden. We found the bear and it was just a teddy bear!! He was sad and cold so we thought of ways we could cheer him up! Can your child retell the story with the taught actions from class? Good luck!

We have had a great week at Nursery this week. We have been promoting lots of team work, social and collaborative play and of course having lots of fun. We have been reading the book Whatever Next this week and  will continue with it next week. Enjoy some of this weeks highlights below.

Here are some highlights of our first week back after half term. We have had an extremely productive and fun filled week!

We have been learning a new story this week, Goldilocks and The Three Bears. Can your child tell you the key events from this story? Are they able to use some of the story language to describe what happens in this book? We have written shopping lists, bought the ingredients and then cooked porridge  with a choice of toppings/flavours – which had mixed reviews!! Here are some photos from the week. Enjoy!

We have had an action packed week this week as always. This week was our last week reading the book Goldilocks and next week we will be reading Stickman. The children have been using the story in their imaginative play both inside and outside on both large and small scales and their understanding has been immensely impressive. We have also been consolidating our understanding of number by using a variety of mathematical resources to support and develop understanding. Here is a small selection of pictures from our week in nursery this week.

We’ve had a fun filled and festive week on our return from our circuit breaker last week.

What a wonderful week back at Nursery. It’s been so lovely having all the children back in class and welcoming all our new starters too!!

Here are a few of the highlights from the week.

This week we have been learning about 2d shapes in our environment and investigating shapes and the properties of shapes. We have also been learning about the solar system, practicing balancing skills and promoting independent cooperative play plus lots more. Here are some pictures from the past week.

This week we have continued to learn about the Solar system and have been reading a book called Here Come the Aliens. In maths we have been matching quantity to numeral and the children have been using taught skills to build structures and ramps in the outside learning environment. We have been talking all week about emotions and understanding how others feel and how we can help. Here are some photos from our week.

We have a great first week back at school after our Easter holiday. We have been reading the book The Snail and the Whale. In mathematics this week we have been looking at and learning about numbers in the environment and all the different reasons we need numbers and what they are used for. We have also created a post office in our literacy area, visited the nature garden and have continued with our weekly PE lessons.
