Pupil Voice at Bessemer

School Council

Due to current COVID restrictions our school council have been working in bubbles so have had limited whole school experiences this academic year. We are hoping that they can continue their excellent work later in the year!

We have a very proactive school council who work hard to ensure the children’s views and ideas are listened to. This year the school council have been leading on our new school mural project. They have visited the new Dulwich Village Orchard to learn about urban wildlife and have polled the children in the school on which animal should appear in the mural. The winning animal was a hedgehog and our mural should be finished this spring. Watch this space!

Road Safety Week 2018

The school councillors worked extremely hard last week to contribute to Road Safety Week which we took part in as a school. Here are some pictures of the school councillors writing a letter to Southwark council, suggesting what impact they could make to ensure the roads around our school are safe. In addition to this, here are the school councillors with the help of some parents, being ‘Bessemer Traffic Wardens’ informing people about where they should park and what a safe speed is. Well done for their huge effort!

Dulwich College Trip

The school council were lucky to be invited to a SUSTRANS workshop at Dulwich College last week, where they learned more about sustainable travel. They joined in with some interesting activities and even got to see some very skilful bike tricks! They came back with some fantastic ideas about what we can do as a school and we hope they will have the chance to do this again next year.
